My First Half-Marathon

I did it. On Saturday, I ran my first half-marathon, in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Of course this was just a training run and the 'real' half marathon isn't for 13 more days, but I feel good about the fact that I've run the distance now.

Below is the results of the download from my GPS watch. Click on the image to see it larger.

12 Miles

I ran 12 miles on Saturday. I wanted to run 13.1 (Half-marathon), but my body couldn't. That's a little over 19KM.

The Half-Marathon is a little over 3 weeks away and I feel great. I think the interesting thing is that everything hurts - in a good way - but it's a different part of the body everyday. It's always your legs, but it's also your arms, your shoulders, your back, your stomach - everything has it's turn on a different day.

I feel great though. I've lost 5 pounds in the right places - bye bye mini beer belly, hello Abs! I feel young again. I feel great.

Bring on the Half-Marathon!

The End of the World?

Doesn't the LHC sound like the beginning of a video game? Halflife comes to mind...

More information about the LHC is here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider.

6 Weeks to go

My training is well on track again. This last weekend I ran 10 miles for the first time. Using my new GPS watch (a birthday present to myself), I tracked it all.

The Forerunner 205 has GPS, which allows me to track exactly how fast I'm running, and a map mode so that I know where I am (always important).

Once my run is complete I upload all the data to my computer and I can see a better (color) map of where I ran, and any point along the run. Here is my 10 mile run. You can see I did loops around and around the Charles river. (If you click on the picture you can see a bigger version)
