$500

So I won $500 on a raffle at the VCM race over the weekend. I'm calling it my lucky karma money, because I think I won it with good karma. I made a big donation to the childrens hospital and karma kicked it back to me.

What do you think I should do with the money? Donate it? Invest it? Spend it on my friends?

A Weekend in Vermont

I just got back from a fantastic weekend in Burlington, Vermont. I was there with some friends to run in leg 3 of a the Vermont City Marathon Relay. My leg was 6.6 miles long and had a long steep hill at the end. I finished in just under 50 minutes, running the first 5 miles in a personal best time. It was also one of the most enjoyable races I've ever run. To top that off I won a $500 cash raffle. I had a great weekend, and I'm looking forward to next year.

Remembering May 23rd

When I was a young boy of about 13 I very vividly remember my father telling me, "I know you're going to do stupid stuff, just don't get caught". He later completely denied saying it, but I know he said it. Today I'm remembering him. It's been 7 years and I miss him terribly...

Boston has so many Universities...

Boston has more than 100 colleges and universities located in the Greater Boston Area, with more than 250,000 students attending college in Boston and Cambridge alone. That is amazing to me. Amazing.

Celtics

I went to a Celtics playoff game last night, and slipped on the stairs at the Garden, bruising my shin and making it painful to walk. Why do I keep doing this to myself?

Stretching before you Run

There are a lot of study's out there on the effect of stretching before a run or after you've warmed up. Some people think it prevents injury, others think it causes injuries. The US Track and Field Association is doing a study on this right now.

This is very interesting to me and I await the results with much interest. I used to stretch extensively before runs and a friend got me out of the habit - and I find my running a little easier. Now I run about a mile/2 km before I stop for 5 minutes and stretch.

I Work Too Much

My friend Antonia from Canterbury University was in Boston yesterday, she was in the states for a conference and was visited some other friends in Boston. I hadn't seen her in nearly 5 years, so we had a lot to catch up on. We scalped some tickets to the Red Sox and went to the game for a couple hours. At one point she asked how much I worked.

I told her "I get to work between 7-8am each morning and I'm usually out of the office by 6."

This surprised her. Do I work too much? I don't think so. I have so much I need to do and I love it so much I hardly even mind...
