New Record

I gave blood today in 6 minutes, 2 seconds... a new personal best record.

My Dentist

I was at the Dentist recently for a checkup and she informed me that it was time for x-rays. I feel like I am ALWAYS having x-rays. I asked her "Are you sure? Didn't I just have them?". Maybe it's a sign of getting older that a year ago seems like just 2 months ago. Here I am sitting in the chair wondering what all these x-rays are doing to my head. I ask the Dentist, "how many x-rays are too many? Because with all the bones I break, I probably average one every 3 or 4 months (taking into account that they usually take 3-4 photos each trip). She laughed it off, "you're being paranoid Sam, you're way under the threshold".

I decided to do some reading and found some great quotes like "FDA commissioner states that dental X-rays are considered safe and contain relatively low radiation.". What does "relatively low" mean?

Then the final straw of my Dentist/X-ray visit. "Now let me get the lead vest".

Great. If I don't get cancer from the X-rays, it's going to be lead poisoning...

Weird Dreams

I had the weirdest dream the other night. I dreamt I had a suitcase and I joined the navy. It was a 2 week trip to London. I couldn't wait to leave port because in my dream all I'd ever wanted to do was be in the Navy.

I woke up in the morning all confused. I will not be joining the Navy anytime soon. No way.

Tablets

I'm interested at the moment of possibly buying a tablet. If you didn't know a tablet is a device you can use to connect to your computer and draw with a pen. Here is a picture:

I'm interested in hearing peoples experiences with them. I already tested one out today a friend has, and I was very impressed. Anyone care to share?

Tired

Apparently I was tired yesterday. I slept for ~3 hours on the plane in the morning, 5 hours in the afternoon, and then all night, another 8 hours...

Back in Boston

I'm exhausted. 36 hours of travelling and I'm back to work already (I arrived at 7am this morning). Good times, but I'm glad to be back and I'll be even glader when I can get into my bed. My theory is that if I stay home and go to bed now, I won't be able to sleep later tonight and be worse off.

Here are all the photos from the trip:

Part 2: The Family Reunited again
Part 3: More Family
Part 4: Christchurch and Wellington
